Recommendations for a good audio Bible

Does anyone have any good recommendations for a good, engaging audio Bible?  As far as versions go, I would be interested in something NIV, NASB, ESV or NLT (I switch around between those for reading, so any would be fine.)  It would also need to be something that I could download  or purchase on CDs, not something that is streaming audio online, so I could listen to it away from an internet connection (such as in the car, or when we go back overseas and have more limited internet connectivity).  At this stage it would be more for me (like to listen to around the house on those days when having a sit down quiet time doesn’t happen) rather than for school purposes.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Zondervan has good dramatized audiobibles.

We have two audio Bibles on Itunes.  I can’t remember for sure, but I think we downloaded The Fellowship for the Performing Arts, The Listener’s Bible for free.  If you google that it should come up.

We also downloaded from Audible another version during a free trial month.  We just did this at the beginning of the year and I’m loving having the audio Bible!

If you go to the ESV Bible online site you can listen to samples of one their audio versions. There is a listen link at the top of any passage you look up so you can hear what it sounds like. They use the same recordings online as one of them they sell as a complete audio Bible.

I highly recommend the Listener’s Bible, narrated by Max McLean.  It’s available in a few versions; we have the ESV.  We’re using this at our family worship time – we listen to one chapter and follow along in our Bibles.  It is working wonderfully for our 6 year old, who loves to read along in his Bible.  It does have some background music behind the talking, but it’s not distracting, in my opinion.

    I have a free Ap on my iPad…. Bible.is

It has a variety of translations. At the moment I am listening to the ESV Dramatised version. I find it good to follow along with the text while listening to the audio.

Thanks for the ideas, all.  I’ll check them out.  I’ve been wanting an audio Bible for awhile but it was a little out of the budget…but I was just given a rather generous Amazon gift card and so thought that I might use it for that. Smile
