I purchased pre-chemistry and Chemistry 1 in the Real-science-4-kids series. I was wondering how often the lessons should be done. Is there something that I should purchase to go along with the lessons or is it fine the way it is??

I was going to do apologia but we already went that route and the kids HATED it..

    Thanks for your help

Speaking for my family personally, we do science daily (read from the book) and do the experiment on Friday. I have the student lab book which explains the experiment, but I have my kids narrate orally the predictions and results. Or have them draw pictures with a few sentences. I also have the teacher’s manual which explains the experiment a little better. I think doing the experiments really helps with the comprehension. You can access those manuals online at http://www.gravitaspublications.com/.

Most families on the RS4K yahoo group do science 2 or 3 times a week. And some just pick experiments to go along with the subject from other experiment books they already own. Some don’t do any. I’ve had times and seasons where experiments took a back seat and other times where we did them all the time.

I try to add in extra living books for each chapter. I took some ideas from the Noeo booklist to give us some additional material. But it’s not really necessary – I just have science loving kids.
