Who uses / used these? (Primer – Third) Do / did you like them? How did you use them? A story per day or per week? Since we have a wonderful book of Mother Goose already, as well as some of the stories listed in the table of contents (TOC), I was pondering just using the TOC as my guide and getting the rest from the library as we go along. However, then the print would probably not be larger for easy reading. So I guess I’m wondering if it’s worth the $40 for the 4 readers.
I used the primer, and part of the first reader with my son. But it was about 5 years ago so I don’t really remember much. We stopped the first reader because it seemed to be advancing too fast (but that said, turns out he is dyslexic…..)
There are instructions for how to use them (not necessarily CM style) on the link I gave.
The main thing I remember is that in the Primer there were only a few new words at a time, with a fair bit of repetition. So I think it would work well with CM style lessons, which might take a few days for a story….
This blog has good information about CM style reading lessons (this is 1 of 7…)
Thank you for all of your feedback. (Do you want to sell your copies by chance?) 🙂 if so, PM me. If anyone else sees this post & wants to sell their copies, let me know.
I used them with both of my children, in paperback form, and they loved them. I used them for their first oral narrations along with the Pathway Readers. The literarture is high quality. Highly recommend.
Okay, what am I doing wrong?!? I’m trying to see the Elson readers, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how once I get onto the page… Would love some help!
