  • Hey I have a question about the younger ones…What do you guys do to teach the little ones the basics. I have my 8 year old who has been in public school and is transitioning to home. But she has learned all the basics in school. How do I teach my other ones to do the basics. I’m a little worried that I won’t be able to.

The Three R’s by Ruth Beechick is really good for the basics, her suggestions are very simple and no-fuss.

Alphaphonics is a very simple approach that we used in conjunction with Ruth Beechick’s A Homestart in Reading. Be assured that you can do it!! 😀 I would just steer away from the typical phonics programs similar to the ones taught in public school. We started out with one of them and it was drudgery for both the child and me!! We literally ditched it and thankfully, God led us to this more gentle art of education.

Here’s how I taught/am teaching my children to read.

    Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!
