Ok so I am very much trying to figure out how to re-use without copying things. Things that I know I will be using for children down the road. What are some ways you are able to do this?
I know for many things we just use a notebook with the older kids. Or I print up a “worksheet” type thing that they fill in the blanks on that for me.
But I guess I am talking more about those things that are not that easy like copywork. I like the handwriting without tears and would like to find a way. Here is my thought: cut it out of staples and make into a 3 ring binder. then find (if it exsists) a side open sheet protector and then every day they can slide the protector over the new page to do and there we go – re-usable. But will this really work?
So I am open to suggestions and things you do or have tried. Thanks
We have some nice sheet protectors that were given to us – heavier, clear, with tabs that hold them on the paper. It only covers one side. I’ll have to see if I can find out where they came from.
on Rainbow Resource if you search “dry erase” they have some “pockets” I think they are called that come in a set of five – they are heavy and you slide your paper in and can write on them. I think this may be what you are talking about? I was looking for dry erase markers and stumbled across them and thought they looked neat.
We do this for our Mind Benders. I tear out each page of the book, slip each page into a page protector in a notebook, and then the kids do them with dry-erase marker and then clean it with a spray of dry-erase cleaner. It doesn’t just erase by itself like it does on a white board. We have also used vis a vis wet erase markers and then kept a pack of baby wipes handy to wipe the marker off each day. I just used the regular old page protectors from Sams. If you have a Mardel nearby, they do sell the pockets mentioned by previous posters.
We have a crayola thing which is perfect – I think it is called a colorpad. It holds 4 little dry erase markers and a little dry eraser…. it has a clear hard plastic face, and you slip your paper in the side so you can see it through the clear front. It works great – but I can’t find it on the crayola website… so now I’m wondering if they aren’t making them anymore?
I love that idea, suzukimom! I may have to look into getting one of those.
As far as the cost of the page protectors… it’s really not that bad. A package of 200 is about $8 at Sams. I use them for lots of stuff so I always have them on hand.
Well, not really because I don’t have a whole lot of binders out. They are in the filing cabinet in the garage unless we’re actually using them. If only one kid is using them, they keep it in their school box. If everyone’s using it, it goes in my basket. I hope that answers what you were asking.
