Any thoughts or reviews? I do not know anything about it, but was curious if it would be appropriate for my dd13. She’s never read science fiction before… March 19, 2014 at 5:52 pm BookwormParticipantYes, I have. It’s a classic, and worth reading. It’s deep and meaningful–IMO it’d be good if someone else read it also and could discuss it with her. There is a LOT to discuss! I think a relatively mature teen could profit from it. I’d also recommend at least the first book of CS Lewis’s series–Out of the Silent Planet. (You might wait a bit on the other two.) There is a lot of potential discussion and comparison between these two. I can suggest more later if she likes it. March 19, 2014 at 5:54 pm BookwormParticipantHas she already read Madeleine L’Engle? As a former girl, 🙂 I think I’d read her oeuvre first if possible. It’s kind of like opening a window before you open the door and plunge on out into the deep. 🙂 March 19, 2014 at 6:25 pm TanyaParticipantThanks! I appreciate the advice. Yes, I was thinking I would read it with her to discuss (or maybe she and her dad could read it together).I’ll try and get Madeleine L’Engle first. Any particular title to try first? I’ll work on getting a copy.Viewing 6 posts - 1 through 6 (of 6 total)The topic ‘Ray Bradbury Martian Chronicles – anyone read?’ is closed to new replies.
