I am using Genesis-Duet and I am researching about moving over from HST to CMO. My question is when I add the Gen-Deut to the schedule and then add Adam & His Kin which is only read on certain days how do I go about doing that so it matches up with the day listed in the guide?
I usually assign the Gen-Deut handbook to Family for all the days of the week that we plan to follow/use it. Then I assign Adam and His Kin, or any of the other grade-specific books, to the individual child who will be reading it. I can schedule it for specific days of the week and just check off the chapters as she finishes them.
If I don’t want that individual book to show up until we get to the lesson in which it is assigned, I don’t add it to the schedule until we get to that lesson. Then it takes me 2 minutes to assign it and have it show up on the Daily Plan for that student.
Sonya, can you tell me how it works in your home with the older children. What I mean is, do you read the assigned bible portion to the family, they give narrations, then the older child goes off alone to read his/her book, and then they give a narration? Or is it just part of their assignment for the day and they can get to it however they feel best or want to?
I’m about to get started with Module 1 (waiting on one more book to arrive) and I’m just trying to figure out how to go about this.
This year I’m doing both. I read the passage aloud to my youngest and next oldest (10yo with autism and 12yo) and get their narration right then. Then the older one is responsible to read her individual book sometime during the day and give me her narration.
My 16yo is doing almost everything independently this year. I’ve given her a list of work to be done during the term, and she is pacing herself and working as it fits best with her health issues and schedule. So she is reading the Bible passages and individual books independently and giving me a combination of written and oral narrations.
