So… being down tonight, and having been down oh, about a month ago… and about a month before that……
Um, do some of you do that schedule to offset apparent hormonal moods? (ie, line things up?)
I’ve noticed that since “things” started after baby number 4, I am definitely more likely to be down, unmotivated, moody during certain times…. (I didn’t have this problem before baby 1, and didn’t have enough cycles between them to notice…. but I’ve definitely noticed a pattern now)
Because I’m starting to think maybe that schedule would work better…. if I’m going to have a few days of nothing getting done every month anyway… I might as well schedule it as time for them to do projects and stuff…. ?
We are doing 3 on, 1 off this year and just finished the first “cycle”. This is working well so far, but I scheduled this way for different reasons. # 1 – the CM co-op I lead is using this schedule this year. #2 – I need time to handle haircuts, shoe shopping, closet organizing, bigger than normal projects on a regular basis.
However, the reason you give could work, too. I, too, have found myself more moody at certain times since baby 4, but perhaps not to the same extent.
I have had terrible monthly moodiness and other symptoms after some of my babies. I know you posted asking about the schedule — I don’t have any experience with that particular one. But I did want to mention that you might look into vitex as a possible way to help your body stabilize. It is not for everyone; for sure, you’ll want to do your research. But it worked wonders for me.
I do have a week where things are bad and I will honestly tell you that I take something for it. That is not why I do 3 on and 1 off. I have 3 kids to HS and an almost 3 yr old. It was getting nuts here. I rotate everyone having a week off and then there is one week I do all of them. That way there is someone to entertain the little man. This week has been great because I am only having to do the K and 2nd grade kids. Yes they need to go year round to make this work, but I scheduled 1/2 week at Thanksgiving, 2 weeks at Christmas, 1 week for Spring break, and 2 full weeks during the summer. My priority is math and reading so even on off weeks they still have to read and do some math review of some sort.
