I’m curious if I were to purchase a Nook Color or Kindle Touch if I could download the free Librivox recordings to either of these devices.  Trying to decide if it is really worth a $200 investment for the ease of having many of our read alouds and librivox books used in our homeschool curriculum on a portable e reader to take and use where ever we go.  If Librivox recordings can be easily transferred to the device, it would be great to pull up a chapter of a history book and tell the kids to listen to it.  Also, can the Nook or Kindle can download music that is free over the internet?  If so, it would be great to click on the selection and listen to hymns or classical music that we are studying. Is the audio quality better on one vs. the other?

I’m researching both and comparing pros and cons.   Any insight would be helpful.

The Kindle can play .mp3 files – maybe some other formats too. (Now, I’m talking about the 3rd Generation Kindle from over a year ago…)

BUT how it works depends which folder on the Kindle (when hooked up to the computer it looks like a drive – that type of folder.)   If you put it with the books – then you can select it like a book and listen to it (but not read a book at the same time…)   But there is another folder (I’d have to check the name) that you can put it in and use basically an experimental player… you can then listen to something and read something at the same time – but it is very limited… it just plays the files/songs in order in the file.

If you want more info I can let you know… but of course the Kindle Touch might be different…
