We also read This is Rome by M. Sasek and then watched several videos about ancient Rome. I previewed them to know which parts I might want to FF through. Most were by the History Channel and I obtained them from the library. Here are a few that I remember.
Ancient Rome: Rise of Apartments
Ancient Rome: Mobile Society
Ancient Rome’s Great Stadium
a Rick Steve’s travel video to get a feel for what Italy and specifically Rome are like now
Oh, wow great resources! I just requested them from our library! We tried reading Famous Men of Rome and it went right over the heads of my girls ages 9, 7, and 4 earlier in the school year, so read Rome Antics and just look online for info/pics of different historical sites in Rome. Glad to see more resources out there for their age!
Thank you so much, Christie. We changed to Rome Antics after reading your posts and so, naturally, I also wanted to know how you continued. You have been a great help!
