How do you work in the family studies? We will be using SCM History, but my husband won’t be able to do it until the evening and I”m wondering how you all do this? I will be doing the Enrichment Studies during the day with my son without my husband. For those of you who do this, what is our schedule like in the evening? I will most likely have my son do his independent reading for the study during the day. Thanks.
I do them in the daytime with the children while my husband works. He participates in our studies on his day off but otherwise we do school without him.
We also do school while my husband is at work. I usually read a novel aloud before the kids go to bed though. You could totally do the family history readings then instead of a story. The family history readings are not long
We do all formal schooling during the day while my husband is at work. He is home for such a short period of time while the kids (Ages 2-12) are awake that we use evenings for other things. We attempt to have a family read aloud going but we fail at it.
Just to clarify, the phrases “Family Studies” and “family together” are used to indicate that those lessons are for all the students in your family, distinguishing them from the skill based Individual Studies.
If dad wants to be a part of those studies, by all means, find a time that works for him to be included. 🙂
