question about science options

I know this has been discussed before, so I apologize! But I would like to ask about this again. We are in our first year of Apologia, doing Astronomy. It’s okay, I find it interesting. I definately want to begin General Science in the next few years (my girls are 8 and 10 right now). But in between now and then, what other options would you recommend? I’m curious about what I could do that would be fun and still prepare us for Apologia General Science.
