Are there any companies that sell things together that are CM style? Next year will be my 2nd year H’schooling and altho I’m hopeful I can put things together myself, I’d like to have backup in case I find it too overwhelimng. Do any companies that sell “boxed” curriculum have good programs for Lit or History?

Well, if you aren’t going to choose SCM’s Modules and put them together, I would choose Easy Packs from Queens as a “box” CM. Just my 2 cents.

    Marcee,

If you haven’t seen the DVD/Workbook combo Planning Your CM Education, I highly recommend it. And, the Curriculum Guide on SCM is fantastic. It breaks down everything by grade and subject. You just buy or borrow the materials. It’s almost like making your own boxed curriculum, but you have the flexibility of not using something or substituting something. And you can get many resources from the library or used, if you’re trying to save money.

For history, I also recommend the SCM Modules. It’s Bible, geography, and history all in one. You just buy the extra books that are suggested, especially for older grades.

We also follow SCM suggested literature books. The only one we haven’t absolutely loved has been Black Beauty, but it was still a good book.

Hope that eases things up for you,

    Lindsey

I, too, was going to mention Queens Easy Packs. Also, Living Books Curriculum is CM & offers pre-packaged curricula. Beautiful feet might be another option.

I just read a bit of some of the sample e-books. It sounds like there may be some things for purchase from the CM site? Or recommendations for things to purchase? I assumed that I had to figure out things for myself based on suggestions and then decide how to put it all together.

Did you check out the Curriculum Guide? Those are the recommendations of books to use for each subject and each grade level. You can purchase many of the items through SCM. Just click on the resource and it will take you either to Amazon or to purchase from SCM.
