Do you think that Julius Caesar and the Story of Rome and Galileo and the Stargazers from Jim Weiss would be to young for my children ages 11-16?

My children are 9,7,6,4.  We listened to Galileo and the STargazers (mostly the one about Archimedes).  They love the Archimedes story – the others went a bit over their heads.

We’ve tried Weiss’s Romeo and Juliet, but I get boos and drowned out, so I turned it off, in hopes that when they’re older, they’ll want to listen to it.

I can’t say aobut Julius Caesar.

I do enjoy Jim Weiss’s voice- except htat in the car, it’s got to be so loud in order to hear his quiet voice and then we get scared out of our seats when he’s loud.

We have listened to it and my kids are 7 & 8. they absolutely loved the archimedes story too and so I bought the book and have it added to next year’s curriculum for science. 😛

I love Jim Wiese’s audios!! I bought the entire collection along with story of the world with some special splurge money and I have never regretted it. I play the Story of the world on trips into town and other stories that coordinate with the time period we are studying and it just helps bring it to life.

    great stuff.

teachme2learn, I think your 11-16 yo students will enjoy Galileo and the Stargazers.  Not babyish at all!

I haven’t heard Jim Weiss’ Julius Caesar but from what I remember, it’s an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar for a younger audience.

Personally, I was disappointed with his “Shakespeare” – even though we generally love Jim Weiss audios. His version gave the basic storyline but almost none of the Shakespearian language (which is, of course, the point!).

I think at the jr high/high school level, they would enjoy reading/hearing the actual Julius Ceasar. We did it in 8th grade in public school.
