Has anyone read this with your girls as they entered adolescence? I have a 10 yo, and I want to find good character building books and also books to aid in teaching her about the changes that will come. Just looking for a review on this book. I could wait until next May and look at it at our convention, but I may want to purchase it before then.

I have this book, it’s the one about a boy and finding a pure white rose correct.  We read it every year to our children (boys and girls).  The girls are still young but it is great for both sexes and it has a comment for each seperate in the back after the story.  I highly recommend them.  I actually loned mine out to a friend.  We read it and then discuss it in light of things we’ve seen, or heard or what the ‘world’ thinks is ok and what God says is ok.  I love it along with there Umbrella book.

If that’s not the same book I do recommend these 2 books from QueensSmile

    Misty,

I think you are referring to The Boy and the Rose. But, that sounds good too (and The Umbrella Story). The Blossoming Rose is for girls, about changes (not physical) that are taking place as they mature. I may order all those books. My daughter really seems to be more conscientious about things now. Today when she fell and scraped her knees, she cried a little, but she said that Jesus had more pain than she did. I think this would be a very good time to begin teaching her these things.

I have a book called ‘The Princess and the Kiss’ and it has a study guide along with it. It’s focus is on the princess saving her kiss for the man she will marry. As the world goes farther away from the principles in God’s Word, it is so crucial to instill these values in our children. “God, protect our children.”
