Hi ladies! I found this site a few months ago and have been reading and reading ever since. I had already been implementing many of Charlotte Mason’s methods ~ I’ve always felt drawn to her gentle approach and my love for books and nature study makes CM such a perfect fit for me ~ but this year I will be adding in many of the elements of CM that I have been missing. I have found so much wisdom and encouragement on this site and am so thankful to have found it!
I signed up for the Organizer today, and decided that I would come out of the silence and introduce myself. My name is Nancy and my profile name is pretty easy to understand. I am Mommy 2 (to) nine wonderful children – three of whom have graduated (two are out of the nest), and so there are six in our homeschool now – if you count the three year old who isn’t officially schooling, but don’t dare tell him that!
Like all the other very original names, LindseyD is just that. My first name and last initial. This has been fun to read! I feel like I know you all a little better now!
Hello Everyone! We originally had been fivesmoothstones, but alot of times, it was taken. So we settled on fivestones. There are five of us and our last name is stone, but also after the story of David and Goliath when David picked up 5 smooth stones. It was a joke we had with a very dear youth pastor of ours.:)
I am usually InHisGrip (I think I’ve seen Steve Brown sign off this way and I just love that picture that God is holding on so tightly to us)…..but there was already one here, so I chose Abbaschild (Abba’s Child). There is a book called Abba’s Child by Brennan Manning that God has really used in my life to help me realize how much He loves me and accepts me through Christ. My real name is Jennifer…
Quoting missingtheshire: “Oney, hope you don’t think I am being too personal, but you have a lovely and unusual name, what is the history of it, do you know? I think it is beautiful. Blessings, Linda”
Not at all! Thank you for your kind words. “Oney” is my maternal great-grandmother’s middle name. She was named by her father who named her Gladys Oney. Oney was his very first girlfriend’s first name. LOL I often wonder what my great-great grandmother thought of his choice.
Thank you to all the newcomers for posting. This is such a blessed family here on SCM and I’m sure you guys will add even more sweetness to the fellowship we have here.
I think we need to look up what Oney means now that we have the story behind the name..it is a beautiful and unique name. Anyone?
Thanks Oney, that is a great story to go with your name – names are so interesting. I appreciate you sharing with us. This has been such a fun post, I have enjoyed all the posts immensely. Blessings, Linda
