We’re back from a short camping trip on the shores of Lake Michigan, which was followed by a wonderful drive home through Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Although I was reachable for emergencies, we tried to limit our technology time in favor of forest time and beach time for maximum refreshment.
Thanks for the great questions, Nancy. Yes, the private message (PM) feature is new. I slipped it in a few weeks ago without much fanfare in response to some of the forum regulars asking about it. We still consider it a little bit experimental since we haven’t been using it very long. Any feedback is welcome and encouraged from those who have tried it.
Here’s how it works: There should be a link at the bottom of each post to “private message this user”. There should also be a similar link at the top of each user’s profile page. You don’t have to worry about what name to use because you just click the link for that person.
When you have a private message waiting, it is displayed on the left sidebar of the main forum page. It will appear right under the Quick Links section.
Unfortunately, you don’t get an e-mail notice and it only shows on the main page when you are logged in. That may explain the lack of responses to the messages you sent. We probably can’t do an e-mail notification right away, but I’ll have to see if I can come up with a way to make the notice show up on more than just the main page.
