I want to do something fun, yet very simple for colors and shapes this year with my will be 4yr old daughter. What are some things you have done to make this fun and exciting? Thanks
My daughter did a program at the library working on learning things like this. For shapes, they did a restuarant menu and created food choices representing the different shapes (for example: a slice of pizza was a triangle, toast was a square, an egg was oval, etc…). The children made menus drawing the shapes, the parents labeled the menu, then they cut out shapes based on the food. When they bought this “homework” to the class, the preschoolers did a role play of the restaruant ordering food food off the menu and the pretend waiter broght the shape of the food ordered to the table.
Each of these sites have a plethora of free printable activities for toddlers and preschoolers which I have picked and chosen from when I needed something to keep my littles occupied. =) I know there are lots of shape and color activities in among these – lots of letter and number stuff too. We love the Brown Bear book too. =)
