Prayer/Suggestions for New CM Group Starting

    I just wanted to ask for prayer for a new CM group that I am trying to launch on July 10th………the first DVD we will be watching is Laying Down the Rails.  I am not really leading – just facilitating. 🙂

    Does anyone have any suggestions from running your own group?

    Hey Lishie, it sounds like we’re in the same boat 🙂  I’m starting a CM Study Group July 11th!!  We will be working through the new Learning and Living series.   I don’t have any suggestions at this point, just wanted you to know you’re not alone 🙂

    How exciting for you! 

    As far as suggestions go, even though you are acting as facilitator, be ready to head off rabbit trails that will derail the topic at hand.

    Don’t be afraid of silence.  Someone will speak up usually.  On the off-chance no one does, just move on as you would do with your kids.  Someone may come back to it after mulling things over or add it in as discussion rolls along. Smile

    Stick to your times.  There may be days when you &/or those in the group be tempted to run over because the discussion is going so well. Don’t do it as it can become a habit that is irritatingly hard to break.  You want to be respectful of everyone’s time – including your own.

    Once you’ve finished your current discussion, if others in your group are CM’ers as well, ask them to lead the discussion that way the group does not live or die on whether you are ill, have an emergency, etc. Also, if you want this group to be something that can withstand time and be there to help others in the future, to outlive you, sooner rather than later is a great time to get those attending invested in the group.

    If I think of other things, I will add them later.  Praying for both of you.
