Hi friends, you may remember my post in October 2010 when my best friend’s son, and my daughter’s best friend, was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. He recently turned 11 and now after a 20 month battle, this dear homeschool family has had to call hospice in to care for Gerrit in his final days. He is the older brother to three other children, a brother only 15 months younger who shares his bedroom and love of all things lego, and two sisters, the youngest only adopted 2 1/2 years ago. Please pray for Gerrit and his family in these last days. I have not told my daughter yet since my husband and I have not had a chance today to have a private conversation yet, so please keep her in your prayers as well. I will update as I can. Thank you to you all.

Just prayed and will continue to. I am so sorry to read this. I have nothing else worthy to state at this moment but please know you, your family and your friends are lifted in prayer.

I am so sorry to hear this. Our family and church family have been praying for this young boy and his family since you mentioned this many months back. I am so truly sorry and will continue to pray for this very special family.

We have been praying for Gerrit and his family since you first posted. I read their update last night on carepages. I was brought to tears. We willc ontinue to pray for him and his family during this time.

How can I feel so much love for people I have never met? God is so good. I told my daughters today so it has been a very messy, sad day. We will be going to see Gerrit Wednesday. He is still able to eat on his own, though not much. He is in bed all the time and has not been able to speak at all for about a week now. We are trying to plan as much as we can for services and they have lots of family and support from our local homeschool families and churches. I will be sure to share with them the love here on this message board, Gerrit’s mom is the one who told me about SCM a few years ago. I will update when I am able over the next days and weeks. God bless you all so much.
