I just had the most excruciating and terrifying experience. I thought I was having an aneurysm, but I quickly looked it up. Airplane headache. I felt like a red hot iron poker was stabbing me from inside my brain into my left eye and eyebrow. Eye was weeping uncontrollably and I could not focus my eye or my mind. Happened during descent. Lasted 5m or so but was the worst pain I’ve ever had. I almost threw up. My eye and brain feel sore now. I still feel queasy. In those 5m, I would have gladly gone home to The Lord. It was that bad. Hoping it doesn’t happen ever again!
It was on short flight from Jax, FL to Atlanta. I’m about to board flight to DC to see my specialist for Hashimotos and Celiac. Praying it doesn’t happen again this flight!
How scary! I hope and pray the rest of your trip is uneventful! BTW, I would love to know your specialist..I have Hashimotos and Adrenal Fatigue, and gluten sensitive. PM me when you get a chance!
No additional headache this flight, thankfully! I’ve had 4 labors and 4 c-sections with 10 lb plus kids and even that didn’t compare to this pain! Thank you all for praying!
@Lishie – thank you. I was diagnosed last year (2/2013) and after very disappointing results with a local Endocrinologist and synthroid, I went searching for other options. I have been seeing Dr. In DC for 1 year. I wish I could find someone local like him. Right now everything is way off, so we’re going to reevaluate tomorrow. I was doing well with a slew of good supplements, but it’s time for something more. I’m hoping to try Erfa or Armour. We will see.
My chiropractor has this happen to him when he flies ! He describes it just like you described it. He says its because the part of his brain that regulates the pressure / release of fluids does not work properly & if the cabin pressure in a plane changes to quickly then his brain does not have time to adjust and then the dreaded you know what happens…. And he says its always on descent before landing. It’s all about regulating the cabin pressure appropriately. Maybe this helps you to understand what could be happening.
Next time you fly pray for smooth descents with the right cabin pressure 🙂
I’ve flown back to Atlanta tonight without a headache. One more flight to go.
My health – a mess: adrenal fatigue, hashimotos with current ending thyroid storm, celiac, mold/yeast issues – total hormonal imbalance. A mess. Overwhelming in my own strength. New supplements, more diet changes, tons of rest needed. Makes me want to scream in frustration sometimes. I do appreciate your prayers. It means a lot to me.
