Thank you all for still thinking of us and praying. It has been relatively quiet since the ceasefire began on Thursday evening. However, there have been a few random acts of violence in Israel and along the border between Israel and Gaza. Thankfully none of these have escalated into something bigger.
It is interesting to watch how quickly the locals have returned to regular routines and how the mood of the people has lifted compared to last week. I have just been sitting on my balcony having tea with my Jewish neighbour while watching our Arab neighbours pick the olives in their olive grove. They carry on as though nothing happened. They don’t carry a grudge or hold onto anger like we do in the “West”. It is a precious lesson to learn. To treasure each moment and the people around us, because the situation can change so suddenly. They have few regrets about “wasted” time because they make the most of each day.
I am so thankful that we are able to live and work amongst these people. Not only to share the love of Jesus with them, but for the things we have learnt in return… about family and community. It truely is a blessing.
Have a wonderful week. Blessings, Michelle
