Good morning from Jerusalem.  Thank you for your prayers while we slept.  Praise the Lord we had a quiet night.  From a quick glance at the news this morning it looks like the IDF kept Hamas too busy in Gaza during the night to allow many rockets to be fired.

Please continue to pray for safety and a speedy resolution to this conflict… not the 7 weeks of war that we are now hearing about.  Thank you all for your love and support, we really appreciate it.

    Blessings and Shabbat Shalom, Michelle

Yes, thanks for keeping us posted Michelle. When I first heard about this in the news I thought of your family! Appreciate the updates so we know how to pray.

Thankfully we have had a pretty quiet Shabbat (Saturday).  Other than the air-raid siren yesterday, Jerusalem has been quiet.  Unfortunately, the south of Israel and Tel Aviv have not been so lucky. Many rockets have fallen again today, but Israel is hitting back hard.  There is talk of a ceasefire, but if that falls through the Israelis have prepared the way for a ground assault.  We are expecting “something” to happen now that Shabbat has ended.

We have opened our home to other believers who need/want a place to come to for prayer and support.  Currently we have one Jewish Believer with us and a few more have said they would like to move in if the situation gets worse.

We are so thankful that our family is safe and we are able to be a support to the local people… believers and non-believers.  Please continue to pray for protection for the Jewish people and their homeland and for wisdom for the leaders of both Israel and Hamas.

    Blessings, Michelle

Thank you so for letting us know. Michelle, we just got home from shul (it’s still Shabbat here) and there was much prayer for Israel as well as for the deception in the minds and hearts of the descendents of Ishmael.

You know, considering these new and improved Qassam rockets (apparently Iranian that have twice the range as previous rockets) that can enter into Jerusalem, it crossed my mind this morning: what insanity would ensue if one of these hit the Al Aqsa Mosque? Just thinking out loud in a terrifying sort of way…

A blessing in the siddur, which we say every Shabbat, that stood out especially today, is from Ex. 15:11; from the Song at the Sea which Moses and the Israelites sang after their deliverance from Egypt and the Pharaoh’s army was defeated. I’ll just write the English.

    Mee khmokha-who is like you

Who is like you, among the gods, L-rd, who is like you , glorious in holiness, awesome in praises, doing wonders.

It is wonderful for your home to be a refuge for all. That is an encouragement and I know The Spirit of The L-rd is there in your home.

The resiliency of Israelis, in the face of International rebuke, blame, hypocrisy, and weekly barrages of rockets (three a week average), never ceases to amaze me.

I must admit, I hope that Netanyahu can continue to be independent minded and, frankly, reject the involvement of Erdogan of Turkey (who in turn is involved with Morsi of Egypt) as being a legitimate peace negotiator- being dishonest and untrustworthy brokers – considering his statements on this Operation-as late as this morning- and his own hypocrisy on how he handles Syria when stray shells fall over the border.

Since you have entered into next week already, I’d like to post a part of the beginning of this week’s portion that is an encouragement; another promise from HaShem as the pre-incarnateYeshua spoke to Jacob:

    Genesis 28:10-15

10 Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Haran. 11 When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. 12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway[a] resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13 There above it[b] stood the Lord, and he said: “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. 14 Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring. 15 I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

    Another encouragement: Deut. 4: 29-40

Shavua Tov in Yeshua and may you witness the Wonders of the G-d of Israel,

    Rachel

Deliver and bless Your very own people; tend them and sustain them forever” Psalm 28:9

I seek refuge in You, O LORD; may I never be disappointed; as You are righteous, rescue me…But I trust in You, O LORD; I say, “You are my GOD!” My fate is in Your hand; save me from the hand of my enemies and pursuers. Psalm 31:2, 15-16

Michelle, we are so glad to hear from you and to know by first hand that the people of Israel will privail. Our prayers are with you, your family and all of Israel. Yesterday, when we heard the need for shelters my husband and I decided to make a donation through United for Israel. We hope those shelters wont be needed. Shalom.

A quick update… We did not have Internet yesterday, so I was unable to post here. Thank you for your prayers, scripture verses and words of encouragement. Thankfully, the Jerusalem area has been quiet and we have been told by the authorities to continue with regular daily activities but be ready to run to our safe rooms if the sirens sound. So yesterday we attended Church, went to a little boy’s birthday party and ordered pizza for dinner. It felt a little surreal to be doing these things while the south of the country was being hit by numerous rockets.

Today my DH is on his way to Tel Aviv for a pastoral visit to our ministry team there. The leader of the Tel Aviv team said they were sent running to their bomb shelters several times yesterday, but they are very thankful that all the staff and volunteers are safe and have not sustained any injuries or damage to property. I would appreciate it if you would keep DH in your prayers as he travels and stays overnight in Tel Aviv.

Hamas has refused all talk of cease-fire and we are seeing more signs of a potential ground offensive. Please pray for protection for all people in this land and wisdom for the country’s leaders.

    Blessings, Michelle

Praying for you, your husband and family and all of those in Israel.  Will pray especially for your husband on his travels to Tel Aviv – it must be a very trying time for everyone there….thoughts and many prayers are with you.  Linda
