  • Forgive me for being an air-head but where would I buy a Pole bean seed? Obviously I don’t even know what it is or what it looks like so I don’t know if you buy a packet of seeds, order them online or at a store. Would I need to look at Walmart, Home-Depot or maybe a small nursery? I know it can’t be as hard as I’m making it! I just HATE to shop for ANYTHING!! LOL

    Thanks for you help!

I buy inexpensive packets of open-poolinated heirloom seed from Bountiful GArdens.http://www.bountifulgardens.org/

    and Peaceful Valley:http://www.groworganic.com/search.html?pCommand=DoSearch&pMode=Search&sText=pole%20beans&sCategory=catalog

You’ll also want to get an inoculant so as to release the nitrogen in the soil. Let me know if you have any more questions.

It’s for a science experiment in Sonya’s 106 Days of Creation…lesson 24. We are supposed to plant the seed into a small pot and then put it into a box with windows cut out. I think we are seeing how the plant will grow to the light.

So I only need one seed that will live in a box…poor little guy!!

It can sometimes be hard to find seed this time of year because most stores are stocking only winter items. But if you look around you might be able to find a store or garden center with a few left.

They may not sprout as easily, but you might be able to even get some dry beans from the grocery store to grow. The point is to use a type of plant that sprouts and grows quickly. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a pole bean, but they happen to be easy to work with.

In that case, just buy some dry beans at the store and do the experiment or ask a gardening friend for some leftover seeds from their supply.

Oh wow, thanks for all the great info. I’m glad I asked or else I would have been stressing because I couldn’t find EXACTLY what I needed.

Ya’ll have been a great help!

One more thing, Sonya and her books have made this CM journey so much easier to plan and implement. Thank you so much Sonya!
