  • Rachel, I’m so sorry that your family is having to deal with this. I am praying for peace and endurance for you and your family, for wisdom, discernment and clear direction for the medical staff.

Do you have friends around you that can step in and help – housework, meals, or childcare so you can take an evening to yourself? I know that personal time is one of the first things to go, but we all need to replenish our own souls if we are going to continue to give to our family. I sometimes swap babysitting with friends; going grocery shopping without three small kids in tow is heaven! Even when it’s my turn to take her kids, things are surprisingly smooth, since the kids entertain each other. Maybe there is a neighborhood or church teen who can work as a “mother’s assitant” for less pay. They watch the kids while you are home, playing with and supervising them so you can get things done.

Also, don’t be afraid to loosen up a bit on your school demands in this stressful time. SCM has “A Light Schedule for Busy Seasons” sample that might be helpful for your family. (http://simplycharlottemason.com/planning/weekly/lightweek/) Cutting back to the basics in as many areas as you can will help free your energy.

I hope some of these suggestions help. In the end, please know that this community is praying for you and your family. Hugs to you. Hang in there!
