I would appreciate if any of you would remember my husband and all of us, really, starting Mon. through the next few weeks to mid- Nov.
My husband has been suffering from a variety of issues over the last few years: weekly seizures, frequent falling, severe mood changes, worsening eyesight, increasing weakness, severe neurological headaches every other day or so that feel like an ice-pick jabbing in his head; in addition to his kidney disease and bone degeneration. He is only 50 yrs. old. He has already had 2 surgeries this year, one on his hand from when he fell during a seizure and on his neck (again); he may potentially have another one or two this year due to another fall he had in Sept. that broke his humorus bone in the shoulder and his knee.
Well, in Sept., his neurologist did a nerve conduction study and EMG (Electromyography); the EMG showed NO muscle activity at all. As the doctor said “weird”; and needless to say, disturbing, too.
He is having a muscle biopsy done on Mon.; an outpatient procedure where they will remove some muscle from two places and send the samples to the MAYO CLINIC for study and testing.
My prayer request is this: obviously for the surgery on Mon., yes, for the L-rd guiding the hands of the surgeon, but mainly for my husband not to get an infection and that it not cause him too much more additional pain (it is being done on the muscles attached to the broken shoulder and knee). In addition, that the samples arrive safely at MAYO and that the L-rd will reveal something to the doctors there and give them the discernment and wisdom to see it, if something is there, to explain this mystery.
Lastly, it is the wondering that is hardest. We have been trying very hard not to allow our imaginations to wonder, but the days between the getting the test done, his recovery from that test and the subsequent doctor’s visits to the neurologist and the surgeon will be very hard. Please pray that they, too will be given the tools to see what they need to see if anything at all, and if nothing, to know where to go next.
Obviously, this has been a strain on us (financially, too) and, due to the recent bone breaks, my husband has been unable to do almost anything and I’ve been feeling a little down and irritable; there’s so much not getting done and I find I’m not very motivated, plus I HAVE to start schooling next week, albeit a lite schedule but still, I need to be able to handle it. My husband wasn’t very able before, but now even that is gone. I don’t know what I would do without my children; please remember them, too.
I can’t seem to shake a sense of foreboding, but I have so much to do…
Praying for all of you, Rachel. I have a friend who works for the Mayo Clinics here in MN, and my grandpa went there for his cancer treatments. Good place. I am praying they can figure out what’s going on with your husband! Praying for you, too. I don’t know what I’d do without my dh to help – I can only imagine the pressure you are feeling. (((hugs)))
Rachel, my heart goes out to you. It is difficult to have so much placed on your shoulders, all the while waiting and wondering what the next outcome will be. But God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think (Eph. 3:20), so we will pray with you….and ask on your behalf….and think of your family often….and God will do so much more than that.
My husband had an EMG and nerve conduction study done several years back. (He has a severe form of arthritis in his spine.) He said it was very painful and he would not have it done again. Prayerfully, your husband’s procedure on Monday will not be painful or cause any further injury or pain, and what God wants to reveal will be revealed to you within His peace.
Oh, sweety I am praying. It is Sunday and as I enter church I will be praying in His house for you. I actually think of you often and am so blessed to know you. I hope you have support from family, friends or others around you. Loving thoughts your way, Misty
I am praying Rachel, what a terrible worry for you all. Please let us know how things go, and I will pray that the doctors find the cause and a treatment and that your husband does not have to suffer too much during all the procedures. Bless you all – I know your strength will see you through. Hugs, Linda
I’m praying for you and your family Rachel. I hope everything went smoothly yesterday. The MAYO hospital is wonderful, I will be praying that they are swift in finding answers for you and your husband.
