  • Hello Moms,

I haven’t been posting in quite a while as we have had some things going on in our home.  I’m asking you to please be praying with our family.  My husband injured his back a few months ago.  It got a bit better (we thought).  Then about a month ago his back went down hill again.  He has been out of work for almost a month now.  He is a subcontractor and works in construction.  Roofing primarily.  After seeing a chiropracter 3 times a week for the last month with no progress.  He had a MRI done this past Saturday.  They found that he has a herniated disk.  He is going in tomorrow to have an epidural cortisone injection (first of three I think).

The doctor has told him that there are really no other options for him.  Surgery is not really a possibility with him.  My husband wouldn’t opt for surgery even if it was.  The doctor also told him that it would take up to two years of rest for his back to heal.  He would need to change his field of work, when he is able to work again.  But we don’t know when that will be.

Things are really up in the air.  We have no idea what will happen.  We are trying to not panic.  Trying to put our faith and trust in God.  My husband is asking for prayer to continue to be an example for our boys, to be a strong leader for our family, to not fret, to seek God, and to know when He is speaking to him.

So… please keep us in prayer.  Pray for wisdom for us.  Pray for healing for my husband.  Pray for direction for our family.

    Thank you all so much!

    With love,

    Carrie

Praying for you.  This really hit home with me. I had an injured disc after I had an epidural for a C-section over 9 years ago.  I didn’t have any doctor care but the problem grew worse in years.  After our move 4 years ago it was even worse.  I was  prayed for.  I never felt anything at the time of prayer but that night I slept through the night with no pain. I didn’t know how much pain I had been dealing with until I slept through that night.  I could even do abdominal exercises without pain the next day, the first time that had happened since the birth of my third son.  I just want to let you know the Lord heals.  He does it in different ways with different people.  I also was healed from arthritic pain with the laying on of hands several years before this healing, that was after my second son was born.  That time I felt the warm flow go through my arms.  I have also been healed just repeating a Bible verse “O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me” Psalm 30:2.  I was having stomach problems with that healing.  We are praying and I know God works through our prayers.  God Bless.

You are in my prayers.  I am sorry to hear about your husband but I will pray that God will heal him and if a change of work is necessary that it will be found soon and be just as favorable for your husband and family.  Misty

I just prayed for your family ~ that God would be with you, that He would guide you and your family in what it is that He wants you to do, how your husband can still feel strong as your family’s provider, how you can manage to still provide for you family and educate your children at home … simply that God would be with you, protect you, provide for you and guide your steps.

Sending love and blessings your way today and in the months to come. May you have a beautiful Thanksgiving and Christmas this year!

    Love and light

    carrie,

My husband had the same thing happen to him. I hope your husband heals faster than mine. He was out for about a year. He had the injections. I must say that he said it was the worst pain he had ever felt. Do you happen to live in Wisconsin? Just curious because that was where he was treated.

His first treatment layed him up. Make sure you drive him home from these injections. Hopefully you don’t have to drive to far because the ride home can be very painful. Make sure they give him pain medication also. Maybe you can return to the store to get them quickly after the proceedure or maybe while he is having it done the doctor will prescribe it before hand so it will be ready for him.

We did the same route and he is still having problems. If you have any questions just pm me. Blessings and I will keep you in my prayers…:)

We will lift you and your family up in prayer. My husband experienced a herniated disc at work 13 years ago, right after Christmas. The Worker’s Comp doctor had those injections administered–helped some but not permanently. He was out of work for 3 months, went back to work, then his back went out again after a couple of months. This time, they had a different doctor examine him and discovered two things: he has a rare form of arthritis in his spine, and the exercises recommended by the Worker’s Comp nurse the first time around were (in the words of his new doctor) “the worst thing you could have done for your back.”

The herniated disc did become better with time; however, as my husband was a delivery driver for a bread company, his job was not the best for this sort of injury. (Driving all day over bumpy city streets on a seat that certainly wasn’t built for a luxury car, pushing around tall racks of bread and buns, stooping and bending in supermarket aisles.) He stuck it out, though, because he didn’t want to risk losing medical benefits for himself and our children. We were very blessed that his boss at the time (a Christian man) was as accommodating as he could be whenever my husband’s back was bothering him and work was difficult. He turned my husband’s route into a training route whenever they had a new guy to train so he would have someone riding with him to do a lot of the bending and lifting. What a blessing that was.

Keep praying, keep asking others to pray, and if you have a home church, ask the church leaders and prayer warriors (the Bible refers to them as the elders of the church) to lay hands on him and pray.

    Blessings to you.
