The DVD is optional. It was created for those who learn better by hearing someone talk them through the concepts, rather than just reading. I’m the just-give-me-the-book-and-leave-me-alone type; my good friend is the talk-me-through-this-so-I-can-hear-it type. We wanted to accommodate both.
So if you learn best by just reading about something, all you need is the book. If you learn more by hearing about something, you may want to add the DVD.
