On my quest for getting a meal plan in place for the next few months, I found http://www.plantoeat.com and it seems super. I’m planning two weeks of meals and then repeating for the time being. it even syncs with ical, though I’ve not yet figured that out.
ical is the calendar program on a mac computer. somehow this menu planner syncs with it thru google. I haven’t gotten that far just yet, but I do like the simplicity of the menu planner.
It looks awesome! I don’t know how I’d convince my husband that I NEED it though. Maybe I’ll do the free trial. Did you type all your recipes in by hand?
There is an import function to grab recipes from the web that works SO WELL! I did hand type a few, but it went quickly. I’m only trying to plan dinners since lunch is always leftovers or sandwiches here. Later, I may add breakfasts.
I probably don’t NEED it, but I struggle so much in this area that if I can find a tool that will make this part of our family life easier and we eat out less, then it will pay for itself in less than one or two meals out for our family of six.
I may write a full review for my blog soon as I wrap my head around it all.
I am interested in this as well, let us know how you like it Christie, looks great. I need to plan, but medical appointments and things seem to get me easily off track – looking forward to hearing more. Linda
Oh, I’m putting this on my list of things to ask for when my parents/FIL ask “is there anything you need before the baby’s born?” I have a lot of recipes saved on allrecipes.com, which I love and use often. But if I could import the recipes I have from there, plus others I’ve saved, and my own, and have them all in one place…oh that would just be neat. And $40 a year isn’t bad; like Christie said, one restaurant visit substituted, and you’ve got it covered!
Hello! I have never posted but I LOVE CM and SCM, what a wonderful place of resources and encouragement. I just happened upon Plan to Eat recently too (through Simple Mom blog-Tsh O is the author). I tried the free month and thought it was great. My husband thought it was great too. At first I balked at the cost but it (like the SCMO) is like paying the personal ASSISTANT I have always wished for, to do lots of the holding-onto-good-ideas-before-i-lose-them-in-the-chaos, and at a few dollars a month, it’s a good deal! 🙂 Now that being said, I have not fully launched into the P2E program, still need to upload more recipes. But I put in titles and planned out 2 months worth. I also need to get in and update my pantry. I love that you can note if you have an event that day/night, which affects your meal plans of course, and see ALL your recipes to the side as you plan, not to mention COOK! (uploading them is not as overwhelming as it would seem). I love that I will eventually get to see what’s in my pantry to plan to eat it, instead of digging it out from the back of the cupboard or freezer a year or 2 later to throw it away. Anyway, I had to say hi after seeing that someone else here is trying it too! So many kindred spirits.
