My children for what ever reason have all had a slight issue with being pigeon toed early on. But usually it fixed itself early and no issues. For those wondering its when your toes point into each other. So look down at your feet about shoulder with apart and now turn your big toes to touch eachoter without the heels moving. Anyway..

My daughter who is 17mo is still having this problem with one of her feet and it doesn’t seem to be getting better even with shoes (these are just normal shoes). I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if you were able to resolve it on your own?

    Thanks Misty

When my dd was learning to walk she had one foot that always turned in, not both so not sure if this is the same sort of thing.  I was told that it was better for her not to wear shoes at all, just socks if she needed something on her feet.  By the time she turned 2 her foot had mostly corrected itself.  Now she is just about to turn 3 and her feet look “normal” except when she has walked along way and is tired, then her foot tends to still turn in a little, but not nearly as much as it use to.  I still try to let her run about without shoes as much as possible, which she loves and it seems to be the best thing for her feet.

Don’t know if that helps at all 🙂

Thanks, I have always wondered if shoes were better or worse? Thanks for the encouragement that time might just heal itself.

ok ladies, do you know if this always presents in children when they are young?  I noticed late last year that my 9 yo ds was walking in toed, kinda dismissed it but I’m still seeing this and I am kinda concerned.  I don’t ever remember noticing this when he was younger, surely it’s not something I never noticed???

Have you ever known it to show up in a child when they were older?

I don’t think it always presents itself, because 2 out of my 3 children are not pigeon toed and never have been.

My oldest (11 years) is pigeon toed and always has been.  It is not severe, but it is definitely there.  I notice it most when she walks and runs.  Her doctor who has known her since infancy has never been concerned about it.  As a side note, my husband’s sister has been pigeon toed her whole life and she is in her 40’s now and it has not seemed to bother her.

I’m not sure where the line is regarding whether or not one needs to be concerned.  I always have a doubt in the back of my mind about it, but so far it hasn’t seemed to be a problem…

sorry, not much help, I suppose.
