Is there a “study guide” from SCM to go along with these like I see for History modules?

No, there isn’t. Depending on the age of your children, you could use the Opal Wheeler study guides available from Zeezok for music study if you wanted to. Or you can just select a composer, play his music in the van when you’re running errands, and put his name in your Book of Centuries. After about six weeks of listening to one composer, switch to a different composer.

For picture study, just get a book or calendar of one artist’s work; select one work to do a 5-minute picture study of this week; do a different work the next week; after six works, switch to a different artist. Oh, and add the artist to your Book of Centuries.

    Thank you Sonya!

My children are 9, 7 and almost 4.  They already love classical music and can pick out Bach, Vivaldi, Beethoven and Mozart.  So I think I am well on my way.  I like your idea of picking one for six weeks at a time.  I recently read a story to my 7 year old that took place 200 years ago in Venice…so after we also talked about Vivaldi, what a great feeling to see his eyes light up as he made the connection!!

We don’t have a book of centuries as we are just finishing out our year and I am just trying to get more fully on board with SCM.  It sounds like a great way to keep track of events and a good place to re-visit as other studies are worked on.  I also have a simplified Bible timeline that marks books of the bible with people of the bible and also some popular historic happenings.  Which I think will work very nicely with your history modules.

I think I’ve been doing a CM approach all along and just didn’t know it.

    Thanks again!
