phonics rules question

    I don’t know if this is going to sound dense, but please forgive me 🙂

    On the “Teaching your Child to Read” page of this website, under step #4 the author went from teaching her child with BOB books to Pathway readers. Then it says she “incorporated phonics rules as necessary to help in decoding the words.” Can someone tell me where I can get a list of phonics rules? Is there one on this site, or somewhere else(or a book I should buy?)?

    DD is at the BOB books stage of reading, and I want to start getting ready for the next step. Thanks!

    Great question, amyw33. I used the phonics rules outlined by Joyce Herzog’s Scaredy Cat Reading System, but only the ones we needed at the times we needed to apply them. It looks like their book of phonics rules is no longer available. 🙁 I would think you might also be able to Google “phonics rules” or something similar and find some to use.
