I am also looking at the Bic Velocity and wondering if a more bold line is better than fine point?

I like the G2 for writing checks – it’s supposed to not “wash” like other inks.

For normal writing, though, I fell in love with a pen called Z-grip. (I think that is the name……there is a Z on the pen clip.) They are cheap enough, and yet a nice ball point.

When I went to school in France (1992), all students (all grades) used fountain pens. We had a nifty corrector pen that would erase one mistake and write over with a different ink. Pencils were used in art class only. In our homeschool, the kids only use pencils- but perhaps I should look into pens for the single fact that pencils have a very short life span in our home. Although the thought of giving my boys cartridges of wet ink makes me cringe in anticipation of an “accident”!

When my son started asking to use a pen, we compromised and started with erasable pens. It was a good compromise for us until he was a little older.
