Have any of you used Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum (PAC)? Any thoughts on it? I know it isn’t CM. Is it rigorous enough to prepare the student for college? It claims to be but I wasn’t convinced that the samples were rigorous enough – though the samples were the first part of the first chapter so it could get better. I like the “vignettes” and story line in them. Maybe that would motivate my daughter.
I read somewhere that one of them (I think 7th or 8th science) had a drive-by shooting as the story line and the reader helps find and catch the criminal. Any validity to that? Is it graphic? Ugly things happen in life but I don’t want to dwell on them or the yucky details of them.
Any info would be much appreciated. We were looking at it because of the Audio Enhanced Option. Our DD has dyslexia and the difficulty with reading is hampering her from moving forward and doing work on her own or at level. She is going into 8th grade and I still have to read almost everything to her. We were thinking that it would be nice to have the audio to help her be more independent.
Since you have done science, do they put a lot of time into evolution or teach it as fact. I wasn’t sure what exactly it meant in the description (for 8th grade science) that said ” Students are exposed to scientific evidence which explores traditional and contemporary theories about the origin of life and the formation of our planet and universe.” I am assuming that traditional theory is evolution but what is contemporary theory?
We used the high school integrated chemistry and physics. It is interesting. I would not consider it college prep, but it is good for junior high or special needs.
