When you are wanting a popular book, and see that you are 34th in line on the wishlist… what is the turn-around rate like? Is 34th in line worth signing up for? I don’t mind waiting even a year in advance, but I’m concerned the wait may be closer to “forever” than “a year”. (ouch)
Or, am I completely off, and
“Your position: 45 of 47 for the Burgess Book of Animals…. “
I usually sign up because you never know. But yes, if the line is long, like 30+, and the book isn’t a high-turnover book like a trade paperback bestseller, it can take quite a while. I have things on my wish list that have been there since I joined PBS, only a few months after it began! LOL I have a few things where I am still in the hundreds in the wish list. It will probably take a while. And so I watch the list numbers often, checking to see how quickly they go down. If there isn’t much progress being made, then I tag that book for purchase or inter-library loan.
If you will click on your wish list it sometimes will have an estimated time, but it always shows the last time that book was posted… that should at least give you an idea!
I’ll go ahead and just wishlist everything, and hit the used and new stores at the last minute.
Bookworm, that’s too funny about how long some items have been wishlisted. Perhaps oddly, I find it rather comforting that the wishlist doesn’t “expire”. 😀
CJ I hadn’t noticed the “last time” feature before. That’s very handy.
Thanks again!
