I’ve gone posted all the books at home that I want to swap, and now am looking at garage sales. What types of books are good to buy – for the sole purpose of swapping them? (Obviously if I find living books I don’t have I’ll be keeping them.) I’m looking for types of books, not specific titles. I have scrolled through the “Club Member Wish List” a few times, I guess I’m looking for a quicker way to find this out. Also, some of the books on the wish list are unfamiliar to me and I wonder if I bypass those types of books at garage sales without knowing it. I’ve thought of offering to buy entire boxes of books at garage sales and just posting everything I buy, but I don’t think I really have the storage space for that. Buying something just to swap is completely new to me.
I’ve had a lot of success w/ Christian books and inspirational books. Authors such as Charles Swindoll, T.D. Jakes, Billy Graham. I’ve also swapped 3 Christian fiction books, 2 by Francine Rivers and 1 by Joel Rosenberg.
I have had a lot of success with craft books like quilting, sewing, decorating, Christmas, etc. My DH used to work for a company that had a publisher under it which published this type of book. He was constantly coming home with these types of books b/c I love to look at them. However, I rarely have time to do anything with them so I started listing on paperbackswap.com and they have moved pretty well. Within 3 weeks I had 8 credits! I just redeemed 4 today to get field guides for us to use with 106 Days of Creation for our Nature Walks and Nature Notebook. I’m so excited!
Current political books (like Sarah Palin’s), books on the Ambleside book list, current popular kids books, books by Nicholas Sparks, vegetarian or whole foods cookbooks.
I listed some books on Saturday and now I have 43 to books to wrap and mail. ARGH!!!!
I’m afraid of what would happen if I gave them all rolls of tape. I don’t think the books would see much of it!
We’re in major de-junking mode so I wanted to get these out the door as quickly as possible. Whatever doesn’t get swapped by the end of June is going to Goodwill. I think I’ll turn on a girl movie tonight (Pride and Prejudice, North and South, something like that) and wrap away!
