Have any of you been vaccinated for pertussis? If not, you may need to get this checked for that, Misty. This is what it sounds like to me. If coughing and respiratory symptoms are still a problem another thing to check for us mold in your home.
Just because you are vaccinated doesn’t mean you won’t get it. I got it when I was in the third grade, fully vaccinated. Also, the outbreak from a few yrs ago was among vaccinated children. Just a thought
I had my cough for 3 wks!!! The kids did too! After the flu, most coughs will linger for a while.
We have this happen before, we all get well then it starts over. Someone is bringing it back in a different strain into the house?? I would think if you all get over it and then sickness happens again, it would be another type of virus. Wouldn’t your body be immuned to the one you just had? That is unless you are not fully well. I am just thinking outloud.
Can you open the windows and doors to air out your home?
Hope you are all well soon! It is very depressing and tiring!
Thanks it’s not whooping cough luckily I have had a doctor listen and rule that out. Pertussis? I don’t know will have to look into that more. Really the cough is gone. That’s not the issue so much now, sorry if I made it sound like that was my biggest concern still. It’s the fever, achy, stomach thing that keeps coming back.
The cycle of 9 makes it take for ever. I would open my windows but it’s so cold and would take so long to reheat the house it’s only 4 here today. But maybe Friday when it’s to get up to 22 I could. How long would I need to leave them open in order for it to really help?
Vit D – we take this supplement along with a good source of Omega3/fish oil. I will bump it up though, great throught. Off to learn more about Pertussis. Thanks for the comments and prayers.
Hi Misty, sorry your household is going through such a rough time…you mentioned the windows, I open my windows every day for about ten – 30 minutes first thing in the morning no matter what the weather – it really freshens the house. This is something we did in Europe, where we would also drape our duvets out of the window in the morning to air them each day..I am not allowed to do that in this sub division, but I can still open the windows. I think it is really important to get fresh air in the house daily….I do understand about the heating and reheating of the house, but I personally think it is worth it. We also don’t keep our house overly warm in the winter, we have the temperature set at 66-67 degrees and only very seldom do we turn that up, we just wear warmer clothing. As soon as more pleasant weather arrives, we have the windows open all the time, then in summer we go back to the winter plan, open for a short time very early in the morning before shutting blinds and curtains and keeping the house cool, and using AC when necessary. I have been used to doing this since I was a child, fresh air is really important and can really help with stagnant and germ ridden air. Hope you all feel better soon.
I haven’t tried this yet, but onions are supposed to absorb germs. You might google about them. They can be cut open and left in a room and will absorb what germs are there. I’ve heard of someone getting over pneumonia quite quickly by keeping a cut onion on the night stand. It might be worth trying. If you do try it, I’d love to hear if you think it helped.
