I’m with the previous poster…my family doesn’t fit the norm lol DS1 is 6 and a serious sleeping night owl. With DH deployed, the little guy stays up until 10. He’s younger sister goes down about 8 (she’s 9 months), and I spend the extra time with DS. DS Then sleeps until anywhere between 10 and noon in the morning. While baby girl is up about 830. We do a quick shower together and take a nap about 10. Since I’m a night owl too I stay up late at night reading or w/e so that morning nap gives me the oomph to get our day going. Works for us!

I’m up between 6 and 7 – usually closer to 6. My kids are all different, though. I have one that is up at 6:30 like clockwork, another who is also an early riser, and two that could sleep past 8 every day.

I have Hashi’s too.  I can tell when I’m swinging Hyper — I have no trouble getting out of bed and lots of trouble calming down in order to sleep!

Fitting the norm— we don’t here.  We’re dairy farmers.  And early in our marriage and when we started having babies, I decided we’d eat every meal together.  That means breakfast at 8:30 (or 9:30) when my husband is done the morning work; dinner at 2:30 (or 3:30 or we get tired of waiting for my husband); supper at 7:30 (or 8:30 or 9:30, whenever his days’ work is done).  Makes it harder to have company and to be company! OR to even just go away over those times.  It seems like my girls are hungry, even if I’ve just fed them – all because it’s 2:30 and their bodies are used to eating at that time.

It also means we get to bed late as a family.  I never put the girls in bed before my husband came home at night (so he could see them) and now they think they can’t go upstairs unless the whole family is going up!!! So, the vicious cycle is late to bed, late to rise… Ah, well.  I’m hoping they’ll still grow up “normal”! *L* Whatever normal is!! *L*  And my poor husband still has the same 4:00 am wake up time! I have no idea how he does it. I try to feed him right and encourage him to take naps!

Kids are in bed around 9 usually and wake up around 7:30/8 usually.  I’m up late most nights because i crave the calm and the time to *think* or read or be a vegetable!  I usually get up around the same time as the kids, but it’s great/wonderful/glorious if I can get up a half hour earlier and get some coffee in my system and pray like a woman with her hair on fire!

I’m in the thyroid group too – although not sure that is to be cheered about exactly!

@ MariePowell – I don’t drink coffee either.  I like the smell but can’t stand the taste.  I have one glass of regular coke (no aspartame) in the afternoon to ward off my sleepy time. Smile
