Does anyone have a brand of timer (or even a specific model) that has lasted more than 1 month in their house??

We have had several timers this school year, and none of them have lasted.  Our timers do get dropped (occasionally), as they are used every day (by three children).  I have paid $5 and I’ve paid up to $15 – it makes no difference, the timers just don’t last.  (I don’t mean the batteries – I mean the timers actually stop working.)

Does anyone have the FlyLady’s timer? is it worth the money?

Suggestions for brands, models, places to buy or order are most welcome!

We sometimes use this timer. The kids love it because the rocket shoots off at the end. I know it’s not a handheld timer, but at least it won’t break (unless you drop your laptop or iPad!).

    Thanks for the link!

I was really wanting a separate, independent timer.  (We don’t have smart phones or an iPad – yet!)

I’ve had this CDN timer for about three years.  The magnet broke off of the back, but we leave it clipped to our book basket and we use it every day.

Each of my kids have one of these – http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0002JA1JE/ref=mp_s_a_1_25?qid=1398478621&sr=8-25&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

We use them all day long and they’ve lasted at least 1.5 years. I like the numbers.

Along these lines, does anyone have a timer that vibrates instead of beeps? I would like to use one throughout my day but with a small house and a baby that naps, a loud beeping timer won’t work well for us.

I’m also thinking of getting some stopwatches (with strings to hang around your neck) for the kids.  It’d be neat to tell them to come back inside in 15 minutes and have them actually do it! *L*

Thanks for all the suggestions and links.

I’ve had the Flylady timer for over 10 years now, but have only used it with a child in the past year.  I’m not sure how long it would last with three kids and constant use, but overall it really seems like a good timer.

The magnet fell off within the first month of use.  But it also has a clip and a little metal thing to make it stand up.  It has a switch on the back that changes it from beeps to vibrate.  It is 2.5″ x 2.5″ so it is pretty big.

I don’t remember how much they cost, but it might be worth looking into.
