OT: Questions about Young Living Oils

Let me start by saying that I really like using essential oils in our home, so I’m already on board, so to speak, with the usefulness of oils.  I have spoken to and know of enough people who have used Young Living oils and like the quality so I’m aware that the quality is there as well.  My questions are more for those who have used/ use YL as well as oils that are available through health food stores & sites (NOW brand, Acacia, etc). With that framework laid out, here are my questions.

Do you find that the quality of the oils is enough to merit the cost for the YL oils?  Do you regularly use these internally?  For those who also use herbs & homeopathics, which do you turn to first for use?  Does it depend upon the issue?  And finally, for those with multiple allergy issues who use YL oils, are the oils used in the blends clearly listed?  I think I found all of the oils used in Valor, which is one of the blends I am interested in.  However, the Thieves blend that YL sells is still a mystery.  I know only two of the oils used in the blend.

I want to use some of the blends that YL carries in a diffuser in my home to help the learning atmosphere & am interested in learning more about using the oils internally when other traditional remedies aren’t helping as much as I’d like, so I am very interested.

    TIA for your help,

    Hi Jacqleene-

Here are the Thieves ingredients which you can find on the YL website under the Ingredients tab of the product: Clove† (Syzygium aromaticum), lemon† (Citrus limon), cinnamon† (Cinnamomum verum), Eucalyptus radiata† and rosemary† (Rosmarinus officinalis CT 1,8 cineol).

    (Love my Thieves products!)

I have not used the brands from the health food stores because I started with YL oils. I stick with them because I like their process but also because they have gotten us through several challenging times including Lyme Disease and Epstein Barr.

Which do I turn to first? – That really does depend on what we are dealing with. The EOs are definiitely high on my go to list and that has become more so as I have learned more over the past 2 years of intensive use. However, if I know a homeopathic remedy that fits I will use that first because they are inexpensive, work very quickly, and carry little risk. But I stink at picking remedies so I only go that direction if I know what is going to work.

I love using natural medicine in our home and am happy to answer questions off list, including how I use the EOs (topical, oral, etc.). hiddenjewelalaska AT gmail DOT com.

Thank you, hiddenjewel. The info on the thieves oil is just what I needed – I will have to do a custom blend of my own as we have issues with one of the ingredients in the YL blend. I will have to see if there is a recipe for a thieves type blend somewhere.

I am on someone’s mailing list, and went to her site to find some more information – it just so happened that I was looking for something along the lines the information that was in the newsletter… Anyway, when I finally worked my way to some of the oils, there was no way to click on the oils and see a list, but rather there was a description which only listed 2 of the ingredients for the thieves oil.  I thought that the information that I was getting was all that I would be able to access, so apparently that was not the case.  I will have to do a bit more poking around to gather more information.

Thank you for sharing your email.  I will get back with you a bit later as I do have some questions.
