For those of you who order food online, where do you order from?  (I’m thinking more specialty foods or foods that may be cheaper to buy online, like soy free, dairy free chocolate chips, certain flours, etc).

I’m part of two co-ops for foods and I get vitamins and some household stuff at Vitacost.

UNFI and Something Better Natural Foods are my co-ops.

Azure is another west of TN, slowly creeping into the east.

I’d recommend looking these up to find out if there is a co-op drop-off in your area. You can find that info. online

at their pages or by calling. You’ll get wonderful prices through them.

A friend at my church has just started organizing a drop off for Azure Standard and I’m very excited. What are your favorite things to order from them?

What sort of things do you all order from Amazon? What is the reason? Cost savings or time savings?

RobinP, I order from Azure monthly. I don’t know what I’d do without it! The most common items for me are:

    gallon-size coconut oil

    20lbs organic apples (in season)

bulk coconut flour and shredded coconut

    50lb bags of baking soda

    raw cheddar in 5lb blocks

    bulk chia seeds

    navy, pinto, and black beans

    raw cacao powder

    mason jars

Other seasonal produce such as potatoes, garlic, onions

Before we went off grains, I ordered red and white wheat berries, rolled oats, popping corn, and whole corn too.

The prices are excellent, in my opinion. Only a couple of times have I ordered something which did not make it in my shipment, but I was not charged for those items either.

I shop on Amazon all the time for food.  We have all sorts of allergy and gluten free needs in our house.  It is easy and saves time tracking down specialty items and is much cheaper than any of our local grocery stores.  I like the free shipping and if you use things regularly and do the Subscribe and Save you get an extra percentage off your order.

    I order things like:

    Gluten free oats

    Gluten free pasta

    Sunflower butter

    Almond butter

    Brown rice

For those that order from amazon (I don’t know if I could ever get an Azure drop off), do you have certain “brands” you like??

    Great info!

Amazon, Tropical Traditions, and Vitacost are the ones we use the most with iHerb coming in for some supplements/herbs.

    Brands that I like:

Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips (though I don’t buy these any more; just make my own without sugar)
Bob’s Red Mill OR Tropical Traditions Coconut flakes
    Tropical Traditions Coconut flour
    Frontier Herbs/Spices & Vanilla Beans
    Stevita Spoonable Stevia
NuNaturals Liquid Flavored Stevia – No alcohol version
American Food Dyes (this is for my dd’s cake decorating business)

We are grain-free now, but before we used to also buy:

    Bob’s Red Mill GF Oats
Bob’s Red Mill Garbonzo Bean Flour
    Bob’s Red Mill Arrowroot Powder
Bob’s Red Mill OR Now Brand Xanthan Gum
    Tinkyada Brown Rice Noodles
Almond Breeze Aseptic Coconut, Almond, and Blended Milks

There are more items, basically, if there is a brand I buy anyway and it’s a better price than I can buy in the store, I order it online.  That sounds like it could be a lot, but really it’s more HBA items than it is food stuffs since we do whole foods here, as well.

    I love Bob’s Red Mill (bobsredmill.com)

It’s great quality, and you can get certified gluten free if you need to. If you buy brown rice flour-have you ever tried grinding plain brown rice? Works great, and it’s way cheaper.

I also use Purity Foods. They changed the name to natureslegacyforlife.com

I get all my spelt flour there. I only buy white spelt flour, and then I grind whole spelt kernels for whole flour.

I have found that the shipping is high from Bob’s especially, but it is still cheaper for us than buying small packages in the store.
