As I drink my morning tea and look out the window at the softly falling snow I am encouraged. For the last 3 hours my children have been acting out a recent read aloud with a spot light and shadow puppets, created their own smoothie recipe, read to each other from our current family read aloud and are currently making up a game about Captain Hook.
We “should’ve” started school awhile ago but my heart tells me to let them play, let them engage each other and let their minds and hearts wander to wherever adventure leads them.
Not all days are like today, of course. Life lends us to lead a full life but these are the days, the moments that I cherish most. This, this right here and right now is why we have chosen the path less traveled. And as I set my tea down I’m thinking of those who are taking this journey along with us, wherever you are.
May your day be filled with moments to engage in, both spiritually and physically and may you feel connected at the depth that the homeschooling lifestyle tends to bring. Let those moments carry us when the challenging times come, let these moments be a time to reflect on to bring us the strength and the joy to persevere.
Now, if you’ll excuse me I do believe my role as Wendy is about to be reprised.
Such a great reminder! It’s so sad that we sometimes get so caught up in our schedules and lists as Moms that we feel guilty during these moments rather than savoring them. I love the home education lifestyle, it’s so much more then “school” :o)
