I just buy the NOW brand from my local health food store. I don’t essential oils internally, so these fit my needs well. In fact, a friend of mine sells doterra oils, and rubbed some on my throat when I had a sore throat. I didn’t experience anything! But when I used mine, it worked! So I honestly don’t think those more expensive oils are necessarily any better. I use mine for cleaning products, medicinal purposes, baths, aromatherapy, and more. And I’ve never had a problem using a less expensive brand.
I got the giggles when I read “Vicks Vapor Bath.” ;0)
With this rare Texas freezer situation, we’re going to need to try your recipe! Thanks for sharing all of them and the tips on saving $ while making these bath salts.
Lindsey – I just stumbled across this post and SO sympathize with you. While my mom IS remarried and DOES cook, she sounds JUST like your mom. She does not want homemade, she does not want thoughtful – she wants expensive. So… her latest obsession is Pottery Barn and she was coming to our house on Christmas Eve and I had made her a photo calendar (that I make for all our family members each year and EVERYONE is so kind and rave about them, but she never did and so I didn’t make her one the previous year and then she lamented to my sister how I didn’t make her one!!!) so I RESUMED making her one this year and then I got something else small – don’t remember what, but on Christmas Eve, I saw this set of 12 pottery barn Christmas Appetizer plates for sale on a facebook second hand group – still in the box. They were SUPER cheap – I think maybe $20 for all 12 – so I sent my husband to pick them up on his way home from work and he brought them in while she was here and snuck them upstairs so I could wrap them and when I gave them to her, she went on and on about how much she liked them, and how she hadn’t seen them at Pottery Barn and how special it was that I got her “vintage” Pottery barn!!! Wheh – now THAT was a blessing from God for me because he saved me from disappointing my mother with another gift that was inadequate by her standards. I’m still praying that God changes her heart about such things, but in the meantime I am SO grateful for the way he blessed me with that silly second hand gift this Christmas – so don’t forget to add the next holiday to your prayer list when it comes to your mom. (And in the meantime, I’m search craigslist for pottery barn castoffs!)
God is good! I’m glad you found something to satisfy your mom Rebekah, but that is such a shame that she’s the way she is. Your story show that even God cares about the little things.
My friend and I joke ocassionally that “even God cares about braces” because my daughter’s retainer broke the day after she had been to the orthodonist and the ortho had tightened it up to fit a little better. My daughter is extremely careful and very anal about everything and I honestly felt like it had to be something to do with the tightening from her appt the day prior. I went to the ortho office and was very kind, but told them I really thought it had something to do with her retainer being tightened the day before. The doctor was very sympathic and agreed that it could have been her fault and just replaced it. I was so thankful because she didn’t have to be so generous and it saved us $200! Moral of my story, God cares about things big and little.
