Just researching alternative treatments and options and wondering if anyone has tried this juicing therapy. If so, why? What were you trying to accomplish or heal/cure? Do you still do it? Did you buy the expensive juicing machine/masticator? Do you know anyone who went this route for a cancer cure? I’d love the details of that for sure. TIA.
Lindsey, when I searched for Gerson here, all I found was one post of yours that said you guys had watched Food Inc, Gerson Miracle, and Beautiful Truth. Thought maybe you’d have further info or opinions you could share. Thx!
I have never had cancer and don’t know anyone close who does, but several years ago I received a book called How I Concquered Cancer Naturally by Eydie Mae. She talks about her diagnosis, her treatment options offered by traditional doctors and her journey into looking for alternative methods.
One of the biggest factors in natural cancer cures apparently is wheat grass. That and eating organic whole foods. The alternative world sees cancer as a result of all the unnatural things in our diet and life that our body can’t hadle and it builds up until it manifests as cancer.
That’s about the extent of my cancer healing knowledge. HTH.
Hi Jenni! I have a friend who had breast cancer and was able to control a tumor w/ juicing and eating! You can read more testimonies at http://www.hacres.com It is an 85% raw diet..but they still allow yummy foods recipes on the site too! The barely grass drink in mint or berry is pretty good! We do have an expensive juicer but not necessary if you don’t need to store it in the frig! Nice to do a large batch at a time so you can save it though!
Suzzane Summers also has a book..she had cancer too but went the alternative route!
Jenni, I have a missionary friend who had a breast cancer Dx and tried Gerson therapy first for a couple of months. It was a huge amount of work and it did nothing for the cancer as I recall. She had a double mastectomy, chemo, and radiation. She just finishing her treatment. Prior to cancer she had been a raw vegan for a number of years. She had been hopeful regarding the Geraon therapy, but didn’t like any of her options. Oh, she is a registered nurse, too.
I pray that you find the best path for you on this healing journey.
I have not done this but I would certainly consider it if I were diagnosed with cancer or another disease it is meant to treat. Definitely looks like lots of work. I thought about reading the book. You can also contact the Gerson Institute in CA for more information.
I haven’t personally done the Gerson Therapy, but I can tell you for sure that if anyone in our family is ever diagnosed with cancer, we will be on the first plane to Tiajuana, Mexico, enrolling in their clinic! To me, it is absolutely worth a try, and even if it doesn’t work, no part of the treatment will have harmed me or my family. It makes so much sense to me because even medical doctors are always touting the benefits of antioxidants, which is what the Gerson diet is so full of. I hope you’ll watch those documentaries for yourself and prayerfully make an informed decision. I’d sure try that route before bombarding my body with a bunch of destructive chemicals and radiation.
There’s another alternative treatment that isn’t FDA approved being done by a doctor in Houston too. I can’t think of the name off the too of my head, but Mommypotamus posted a blog about it earlier in 2012, I believe. I’m typing from my iPhone, or I’d look it up for you. On that blog post, there is a very informative YouTube video about this treatment. I think it is probably very expensive, but what cancer treatment isn’t?! Please let us know what you decide so we can be praying for you!
I couldn’t remember the name of the Drs. that use it, but lowly baking soda has been used effectively. Go here and scroll a little over halfway down to get to the part that talks about both the drs. and how they used the baking soda. You can do more research from here. There are also other suggestions in this article as well, I believe.
EDIT: I forgot to mention this… my own doctor, when discussing vitamin D dosage with me regarding my needs mentioned that I was well within limits, etc. as often she recommends ultra high dosages for cancer patients – like 25000 mg and sometimes more depending. She made a point to say that this should ALWAYS be monitored by a doctor via blood tests – for cancer patients @ high dosages she mentioned something about monthly, but that may vary depending upon the doctor.
Thanks to each of you for your incredible encouragement and your info. I feel like I’ve been cramming for finals for two weeks straight and I’m still not even sure if I’m gonna pass or not! 🙂
We have a very narrow window of time to decide how to proceed. I’ve just been officially “promoted” to Stage 4 since they’ve decided that my tumor has metastasized to other lymph nodes and very likely to my femur as well. Right now, it’s a big guess as to my prognosis, but no one’s given me a timeline yet.
If any of the docs give me the ol’ “you’ve only got x amount of time” spiel, I’m ready with my (very short) bucket list…. is it too pathetic that all I can think of to do is clean my house really well? I just feel a strong need to go through all my own junk and get it tossed or organized so dh doesn’t have to deal with that on top of every thing else.
Anyway, it looks like we will be starting chemo on Wednesday. I’m still not sure if I’m going to regret this decision or not. Actually, I haven’t even made the decision. It’s like it’s just going to happen whether I really decide or not. My non-decision will actually end up being the decision, in other words.
If I go this route, I will also be seeing a naturopathic physician who will help alleviate the side effects naturally thru supplements and diet. I’ve already cut out meat, dairy, soy, and sugar (and lost 10 lbs in a week – not exactly the way I wanted to do that!).
ruth – thanks for the book link. Sounds very promising and helpful!
2flowerboys – I had heard of the Hallelujah Diet but only barely. Thanks for the link. Maybe I will find some good recipes on there. I love the testimonials!
Christie- it is amazing the number of medical professionals I have encountered who don’t subscribe to modern medicine themselves – they look for natural alternatives. I think in some cases, individuals don’t respond well for whatever reason to the natural options and then modern medicine still has its place. I’m hoping that is the case with me. I also discarded the Gerson idea once I realized how labor-intensive it is. Plus I just met a gal who is doing her own version of juicing and diet, but had a friend who recently died while still doing Gerson. Maybe her cancer was just too advanced, but it wasn’t exactly the ringing endorsement I needed to hear, y’know?
Mommy2Girls-
Thanks, I did end up emailing the Gerson Institute in Tijuana, but their manner was not welcoming or friendly. I just didn’t get any warm fuzzies. That’s when I found http://www.oasisofhope.com. Still researching…
blue j – yes, I’m already doing 50K mg of Vit D each month. Plus Vits B6 and C, and glutamine. May also start on a few other supplements soon. Lots of great, helpful, non-toxic stuff out there!
Thanks also to Lindsey and others who posted. I just enjoy the fellowship and encouragment you guys offer so much! I’ve always maintained that I would do the same things you guys have all advocated… no chemicals, no toxins, go healthy, stay organic and natural, and control it easily through diet and exercise… but now that I actually have cancer and it is growing and moving so fast, I find myself wondering, “Well, what if I pick the leaves and twigs diet and/or Mexico clinics and I’m dead in six months?”
I guess my justification (and I’m kind of thinking this through as I’m typing…) is that if I go wtih modern medicine first and it becomes hopeless, I can always turn to homeopathy afterward for quality of life and even the miraculous cures we’ve all heard about, right? On the other hand, it’s certainly possible that I’ll croak from the toxic overload first. Argh!
While neither prospect is especially attractive, at least I’ll know where I’ll be in the end. And you all will know where to find me! 🙂
My indecision is going to be the death of me. Literally! DH and I just have to pick a path (hopefully with a nudge from above) and go for it. No regrets, no looking back….
In addition to the other comments here, have you considered supplementing with vitamin d3? It is proven to be effective for cancers, especially breast.
Jenni, your outlook and attitude in the face of this dreadful disease is beautiful. My friend was right. None of the options look good – natural or traditional. It stinks and would never be what we choose. Praying that through this journey, your faith and your family’s will be strengthened.
A dear friend, who passed away a little over a year ago from colon cancer leaving behind her husband and 3 children, told me in the months before she died that she wins either way. Either God would miraculously heal her from a terminal diagnosis and she’d remain here on earth with her family OR she would be in her eternal home with Jesus. She was so calm, peaceful & secure. She even told me what a blessing it had been lying on her bed all those months. When I asked why, she said, “I lie here, unable to move much and my children sit by my side reading scripture to me for hours each day. We studied God’s word before, but never like this.” She was amazing woman whose children are wonderful examples of love, grace, empathy & understanding. I pray I do as well with my own. Your attitude reminds me of her very much. You win either way.
The words of the hymn “Abide with Me” by Henry Lyte give words to my prayer for you. I wish I could attach an mp3 of the version a friend wrote to update the tune. It is how I first learned this hymn and is my all time favorite.
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day;
Earth’s joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see;
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.
Not a brief glance I beg, a passing word;
But as Thou dwell’st with Thy disciples, Lord,
Familiar, condescending, patient, free.
Come not to sojourn, but abide with me.
Come not in terrors, as the King of kings,
But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings,
Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea—
Come, Friend of sinners, and thus bide with me.
Thou on my head in early youth didst smile;
And, though rebellious and perverse meanwhile,
Thou hast not left me, oft as I left Thee,
On to the close, O Lord, abide with me.
I need Thy presence every passing hour.
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s power?
Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.
I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.
Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee;
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
Bless you and your dear family Jenni, as you walk this difficult path.
God be with you as you work through your choices and choose a path. Christie wrote much more eloquently than I am able, so I simply echo her sentiment.
God bless and keep you. May the Lord’s face shine down upon you. And may He give you peace.
I have not finished reading through all the responses, but wanted to give you a blog and ebook that I’ve recently found. Here’s the blog: http://www.chrisbeatcancer.com/. I follow him on FB and he posts lots of info.
The book I saw posted as a free download a while back and have been slowly reading through it. I’ve seen it free a couple more times since then, but normally it is around $30, I think. But I would consider it very worth every penny for the information in the book. Here is the product page: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007NUYQHI/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title
I am learning so much from this book about what cancer is and various alternative treatment options. I do know of someone that went the Gerson route, but was not succesful. I do not know the details, though, other than she may have waited too late to make any treatment decisions and was already failing by the time she went that route. I’m not even sure on the type of cancer. But I have seen the documentaries mentioned and would certainly give it a serious look. Like Lindsey said, it can’t hurt. But I think from what I have read so far in the above book, I would consider other treatments, as well.
OH, and the doctor Lindsey mentioned in Houston is Burzynski. There is a documentary about him, his treatment and battles with the government, on Netflix, and it can also be rented on Amazon. His treatment is also the first chapter of the book I mentioned above.
I hope all this is helpful, and I will be praying foryou.
