My husband has some serious health issues and has finally agreed to address them. We plan to start GAPS soon. Anyone have advice? Especially, does anyone have any favorite recipes for those early Intro stages? We’re pretty simple, basic people when it comes to food but would like some variety.
We did GAPS a few years back with great success to address one of my daughter’s health issues. Some early advice I received: -if you’re not used to these changes, start out by removing white foods, ie…white bread/flour, white sugar, white rice. Then switch over to honey, almond flour, etc. -add in the good stuff…24 hour fermented yogurt, fermented foods and broth. -begin on the full GAPS allowed food list first, then back up and do Intro. This is what we did for our family and honestly, full GAPS is not that hard to get used to eating. Intro can be pretty rough (i.e., boiled fish…blech!) and if you’ve got a reluctant crew, you may have some difficulty moving past Intro. It all depends on the severity of your husband’s condition/s and how ready he is to commit to the diet. We did full GAPS for a few months, saw great results, then did a zoom-through of Intro. You can google just about any meal or dessert and come up with a GAPS friendly recipe that some wonderful blogger has graciously shared with the world! Good luck!
