Ok I already for see a tight budget for Christmas. Mind you we are a family of 9 with all our birthdays, the holidays, and our anniversary between Aug. 30-Feb 22. Makes for a lot of gift giving and such. I read the most recent post about Christmas ‘3’ gifts and loved it. I am going to talk to my husband on that.
But I would really like to know if any of you have made things for your kids for a gift that they just loved and it was kept more than a week? My girls are 5 & 3, boys are 7, 10, 12, 14 & 15 at this moment 🙂 I would love to make them all something for Christmas that would be useful and last.
For the girls I found a DIY non-slip sock idea. This is perfect for them and they would love socks decorated. But what do I do for the boys? I like that this idea would fit the ”need” part of the 3 gifts also, because we live in MN we NEED socks in December. So could you shoot me some more ideas? BTW I don’t sew sorry 🙁
I am thinking about these Marshmallow Shooters – they are super simple and dirt cheap. That link doesn’t have a tutorial but does give an upclose picture to see parts/pieces. I like that they spray painted them but we would probably use colored electrical tape or duct tape to identify each child’s instead (cheaper than so many cans of spray paint we don’t have on hand).
Here is a tutorial for making similar ones (you can find several different marshmallow shooter pipe configurations online).
What about decorated tshirts? Here is a Minecraft Creeper shirt tutorial one but you could do anything they like (Lego would go over well here too).
I made ribbon dancers last year for my then dd4 and ds2 and they still play with them. What about making a simple personalized little shelf for each child to keep their special things on?
