My son is 4 (will be 5 in May). He’s been interested in playing games. He enjoys playing war with regular cards and uno. He’s also played memory and go fish which he somewhat enjoys. We have candy land and chutes and ladders, but neither of those seem to keep his interest (or mine for that matter). Does anyone have ideas of family games that we could enjoy together? One that would be engaging for a preschooler, but also enjoyable for parents? Or any games we can grow into? Looking forward to hearing any ideas!

Second the Busytown game. My boys have played it for a couple of years, and still like it. They are five and seven. And I like to play, too. Candy land “disappeared” because I so don’t like playing.

Another great game is Camp. Levels of questions for the youngest on up about outdoor themes, animals, plants, etc. We all like playing.

On our currently in use shelf by young and not so young:

Spot It Jr and Spot It

Tell Tale and Tell Tale Fairy Tale

Boggle Jr (uses letter dice and you match letters to a card with word and picture)

    Pictureka

Scrabble Jr – one side blank board other has words and you match tiles.

    Dominoes

    Qwirkle

    Chess

    Rat a Tat Cat

    Othello

Exact Change (similar rules to Uno but an option to make exact change with multiple cards too, great for learning money)
