So, how do you schedule a resource that is to be used with another resources chapter??
For instance: Let’s say I have a math book that has a chapter on coins and I want my child to watch a video related to that topic with just that chapter (not the whole textbook). What is the easiest way to schedule that so that it pops up just for that chapter???
TIA…I hope this makes sense and isn’t too obvious:)
It can’t do it for just a chapter, however, if you know the date you will be on that chapter, you can schedule the video for that date.
Another option is to schedule the video and where it says “use with”, click the math book. The video will come up at the same time as the math book, but you can minimize it. Then when the days finally match up, you can click finished for the video and it’ll be done with. That way you won’t forget about the video. Does that make sense?
Thanks. I had a feeling it was not going to do that, but that’s okay…we can work around that.
If you minimize it are you running the risk of not remembering that you had that resource to use with that chapter?? Or is the minimizing not that small where you would still see it and basically just have to remember you have that resource??
I guess why I’m hoping to schedule something then have it pop up so that I don’t have to remember I have it. Does that make sense?? Have you ever had something that you wanted to use with something else, but just forgot you had it??
TIA…I’m going to work on the minimizing thing and see how that works. I love the Organizer and it has helped me soooo much with not having to remember everything or re-write a bunch of stuff, so I was just looking for another way of marking things off my mental list:)
Minimizing the resource is SO easy… you just click on the little triangle beside it. You still see it, but it only takes up a little line and it is made faint. And, (something I hadn’t realized at first) – if you print the daily plan with something minimized, the minimized items don’t print… Woohoo!
You can schedule just parts of a resource and also use a resource multiple times to get what you need. For example you could schedule chapters 1-10 of a math book, then schedule only chapter 11 of the same math book, and then schedule the remainder of the book. That would let you schedule another resource to be used with chapter 11.
Doing it this way is more work and isn’t as convenient as using the whole book, but it can be done.
Or, couldn’t you just add a Daily Note or a note on the assignment saying he watched the video? Or schedule the video, and then make a note: “Watched as part of Chapter 11 on coins”.
Thanks for your help everyone. To be honest, I was asking for a friend of mine that is using the free trial, but isn’t on the discussion forum yet. Having all these great ideas is helping me as well. I did let her know what she could do and is working it out similar to how you all have described.
She is fairly new to CM/owns a business with her husband and was looking for a way to ‘schedule it and forget it’ for this resource and others. I think she may add the note or do what Doug described so she doesn’t forget about it. She is a pretty organized person, but with so many things to remember with their business and all, she was looking for something to keep track things like the Organizer does, so it is working out great so far.
Thanks everyone!
