I have a couple of possible ways to help with this… One I have tried, one I am about to try…
First – I created resources with specific dates (either under me as a student, or under the student as a teacher resource) that would come up to notify me at the half-way through term date, and end of term dates. When this would come up, I’d have a quick look through where we were with everything on the organizer, compared to where I figured we would be at that point. This would allow me to determine if we should adjust the number of times we used a particular resource, etc.
Second – this is what I’m doing this year (As we are doing AO) – I created a resource (well, a few – for varoius subject areas) that I scheduled in the Teacher Resource section that would indicate what I wanted us to accomplish each week. I needed to do this because AO doesn’t do every resource each week. This will also have the benefit of letting me know if we are where we want to be or not…
So – for example – Here is my notes for AO Year 2 History and Geography – week 2.
AIS ch23; CHOW ch47 (45); Duke fin ch1; Tree ch2,3
(AIS is An Island Story, CHOW is Child’s History of the World, Duke is the Little Duke (fin means finish) Tree is Tree in the Trail.)
The easiest method, of course, is to either plan for less than 36 weeks worth of work to be done in the 36 weeks – or to school year round and just continue as you go….
