I am looking for options for high school science other than Apologia. We did General Science last year and my daughter hated it! Too dry and boring. She is not science minded and would like something easier to read with more hands on activities. I have heard of Friendly Chemistry and think that might be a good fit, but am looking for Biology and Physics options too. Thanks in advance. All ideas are welcome and appreciated!

Shepherd Science may be a textbook option.

There is another thread on highschool science listing other options including living books that could be added to Biology 101, or Chemistry 101. Head’s up. You’ll need to really work with and add to it if you want a college bound course.

we are doing NOEO science this year with all of our kids. I don’t know if their highschool courses are ready yet, though. They were still working on them the last time I was on the website. They have things broken up into biology, chemistry and physics. you could try their website and see if their is something there that you like.

My daughter is really enjoying exploration education this year. It is physical science and extremely user friendly.

Here is a link to Harmony Arts Mom’s recommendations for living science books for high school…

I was also looking at a syllabus for a living book biology course just last night. She has one for Chemistry, too, as well as others. Here is that link:

I also found a link to a blog of a homeschooled high school graduate who recounts using living books for her biology and chemistry courses with the DVDs Biology 101 and Chemistry 101 as the “spines”. I can’t find the link but I will post it if/when I find it!

    HTH!
